About Author

C.R. Bambara is a children’s author and poet dedicated to helping young readers navigate difficult emotions through the power of story. His work, focused on juvenile fiction and poetry within the realm of social themes, emotions, and healing, is deeply rooted in personal experience. A survivor of childhood trauma himself, Bambara writes to give voice to the unspoken pain many children carry, offering them a language to identify their feelings, unpack their experiences, and begin the journey toward healing.

Born in Plainfield, New Jersey and now based in Columbia, South Carolina, C.R. Bambara holds a degree in psychology and has served as a residential counselor for children removed from their homes by the court system. That work—on the frontlines of emotional crisis—shaped not only his professional path, but his calling as a writer. His stories are tender, honest, and unafraid to hold space for sadness, anger, confusion, and recovery. His poetry and prose are designed to affirm young readers while also equipping parents, teachers, and counselors with tools to support them.

In addition to his writing, Bambara is a U.S. Army veteran, a practicing Christian, and the proud father of five children. His faith and service are woven into his voice and mission, which is to reach young hearts with compassion, authenticity, and hope.

C.R. Bambara’s books are available primarily on Amazon, and his creative process, poetry, and life journey are shared regularly with his audience on Instagram. He writes under the belief that healing begins with recognition—and that even the quietest child deserves to feel seen, heard, and whole.

His guiding quote is: “Wherever you are, there you are.” add another page.

The Boy in the Basement Woods”

When a young boy is led away from home by the one person he longs to trust, his world is turned upside down. Left in a cold, shadowy basement with only his fear for company, he learns what it means to feel invisible, unwanted, and forgotten. But in the quiet darkness, he also discovers something he didn’t expect—resilience.

Rooted in raw emotion and drawn from the real experiences that inspired the poem of the same name, The Boy in the Basement Woods is more than a story—it’s a lifeline for any child who has ever felt lost or abandoned. Guided by love, faith, and the steadfast arms of a grandmother who refuses to let go, this tale shows young readers that even in the darkest places, light can break through.

Perfect for parents, educators, counselors, and children alike, this book opens the door to conversations about trauma, healing, and the hope that never stops reaching for us—even when we can’t see it.

A moving debut from C.R. Bambara, The Boy in the Basement Woods reminds us all:
You are not alone. And morning always comes.
